Hugh Mosher was the son of Nicholas Mosher and Elizabeth Audley.^1,2 Hugh Mosher was born on 16 November 1690 at Dartmouth, MA.¹ He married Sarah Davol, daughter of Jonathan Davol and Hannah Audley, on 25 July 1717.² Hugh Mosher died in 1764 or 1765 at Crum Elbow, Dutchess, NY.¹
He By Jan. 13, 1748, Hugh Jr. and Sarah were in Crum Elbow, and so was Christopher Devol, father of Hugh Jr.'s wife. On that date they were given earmarks. Thier lands were in that part of Crum Elbow that was set off in 1788 as the town of Washington. The only member of Hugh's family for whom there is a recorded deed in this period was his son Ephraim, who purchased land adjoining Christopher Devall (Devall, Davol, Devol, Deuel, Devel, and Dewel are only a few of the many variations of this surname) in 1752. When Ephraim died in 1823 his obituary stated that he had settled "upwards of 70 years ago" in Washington, where he had lived ever since.¹

Richard Maxson was born circa 1602 at England. He married Rebecca (?). Richard Maxson died on 1 September 1643 at Pelham Bay, Bronx, NY.
He was one of the founders of Portsmouth (Pocasset). Richard Maxson and his wife, who came from England, lived in Boston in 1634, where he was a blacksmith and worked for James Everill. He is shown by the R.I. Colonial Records to have been a resident of the town of Portsmouth, R.I. as early as 1638. He was amongst the list of freemen who settled Newport, at the south end of the island, the same year, getting in the original division of the land 36 acres, as the deeds show. It is supposed by some that he and his son Richard were killed by Indians and that his widow escaped, with others, in an open boat. He may have arrived in Boston in 1634 because that is when his name first appears as a member of First Church Boston.¹ Richard Maxson also went by the name of Maggsen. He was a Blacksmith.²
