     William Coffin was born on 1 December 1699 at Nantucket Island. He was the son of Nathaniel Coffin and Demaris Gayer.

     Charles Coffin was born on 1 January 1702. He was the son of Nathaniel Coffin and Demaris Gayer.

     Gayer Coffin was born on 24 May 1709. He was the son of Nathaniel Coffin and Demaris Gayer.

     Jedidah Hussey married Benjamin Coffin, son of Nathaniel Coffin and Demaris Gayer, on 5 February 1726. Jedidah Hussey died on 6 August 1759.
     As of 5 February 1726,her married name was Coffin.

     Deborah Macy was born on 17 April 1726. She married Benjamin Coffin, son of Nathaniel Coffin and Demaris Gayer. Deborah Macy died on 28 November 1803 at age 77.
     Her married name was Coffin.

     Isaac Coffin was born on 1 September 1764. He was the son of Benjamin Coffin and Deborah Macy.

     Thomas Coffin was born on 5 September 1766. He was the son of Benjamin Coffin and Deborah Macy.
     Thomas Coffin was a sea captain who sailed as far away as China in search of sperm whales. While he was away, his wife, Anna Coffin, ran a small shop in their house.¹

     Deborah Coffin was born on 25 August 1768. She was the daughter of Benjamin Coffin and Deborah Macy.

     Lucretia Coffin was born on 3 January 1793 at Nantucket Island. She was the daughter of Thomas Coffin. Lucretia Coffin married James Mott on 10 April 1811.¹ Lucretia Coffin died on 11 November 1880 at age 87.²
     Lucretia Coffin was was an outspoken leader of the antislavery and women's rights movements in America.

Her family were Quakers, and she became a Quaker minister in 1821. Like many Quakers, Mott was active in the abolitionist movement in the United States before the Civil War. Mott helped found two anti-slavery groups, and was well known for her eloquent speeches against slavery.

In 1840, Mott attended the World Anti-Slavery Convention in London, England. The men who controlled the convention refused to seat her and other women delegates. Mott responded by pledging to work diligently for women's rights. In 1848 she and another reformer, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, organized the first women's rights convention in the United States at Seneca Falls, New York. Out of this meeting came a series of resolutions demanding increased rights for women, including better educational and employment opportunities and the right to vote.

After 1848, Mott spoke widely for both women's rights and the abolition of slavery. Her book, Discourse on Women, published in 1850 discussed the educational, economic, and political restrictions on women in Western Europe and America.

After slavery was abolished in 1865, Mott supported the rights of black Americans to vote.^3,4

     James Mott was born on 20 June 1788. He married Lucretia Coffin, daughter of Thomas Coffin, on 10 April 1811.¹ James Mott died on 26 January 1868 at age 79.
     James Mott does not descend from our Adam Mott, but from "the other" Adam Mott of Hempstead, Long Island. I believe he is a descendant of Joanna Slocum Mott but I have not traced the ancestry.

     Deborah Austin was the daughter of Joseph Austin and Sarah Starbuck. Deborah Austin married Lieutenant John Coffin, son of Tristram Coffin and Dionis Stevens.
     Her married name was Coffin.

     Joseph Austin married Sarah Starbuck, daughter of Edward Starbuck Jr. and Katherine Reynolds.

     Ernest Salsbery was born on 26 April 1905. He died on 25 February 1999 at age 93.

     Her married name was Grant.¹

     Rachel Kelly married Noah Grant, son of Noah Grant and Susanna Delano.¹

     Sarah Carr was born on 19 May 1689 at Little Compton, Rhode Island.¹ She was the daughter of Ezek Carr and Susanna (?).¹

     Ezek Carr was born on 23 August 1693 at Little Compton, Rhode Island.¹ He was the son of Ezek Carr and Susanna (?).¹ Ezek Carr died on 13 November 1728 at Little Compton, Rhode Island, at age 35.¹

     Anna Carr was born on 28 February 1696 at Little Compton, Rhode Island.¹ She was the daughter of Ezek Carr and Susanna (?).¹
