     Robert Carr came to America with his brother Caleb on the ship Elizabeth Ann, commanded by Capt. Roger Cooper, which sailed from London 9 May 1635. From an old shipping record we have Caleb Carr as 19 and Robert Carr as 21, tailor. They went to live with their uncle William Carr who lived in Bristol, R.I. Two years later the brothers settled in Newport. Robert Carr was admitted inhabitant of Portsmouth 21 Feb. 1639. Freeman of Newport 16 March 1641.

His will, dated 20 April 1681 and proved 4 Oct. 1681: "Overseer brother Caleb Carr. He declares his intention of starting on a voyage to New York-New Jersey. To eldest child Caleb, all lands in Jamestown; to John Hicks and his children by my daughter Mary 20 pounds; to son Robert dwelling house and wharf at Newport; to son Ezek certain land; to daughter Margaret all my sheep in Jamestown."²
